"Save Our Heritage - Preserve Our History" (Chairperson)

Perhaps because my cultural roots were firmly planted in Ybor City and West Tampa, I have always had a special interest in historic preservation. When I opened my real estate brokerage business, I decided to transform that interest into a commitment by opening it in the same historic building that my family has owned and operated since 1906.

I renovated the original Frank Costantino Monument Company at 2216 4th Ave East, the same building that housed my father’s and grandfather’s business and where I spent a great deal of my youth. I renovated the tiny historic structure and my efforts have not gone unnoticed. They have encouraged similar efforts in my neighborhood and the area is undergoing a positive change in attitude that I find quite rewarding.

I was also the driving force behind the expansion of the Ybor Historic District east of 22nd Street and the forming of the East Ybor Historic and Civic Association.

Fran Costantino hosts many social gatherings throughout the year, including the Ybor City Lions Club Annual Bocce Ball Tournament to raise money to purchase Seeing Eye Dogs(seven to date) and also enjoys the culinary arts in her spare time. She is very honored to have received a Women of Distinction Award from the Greater Mount Carmel Church for supporting community strength and activism and also the 2003 Italian American Woman of Excellence Award.
